Efficient Use of Auxiliary Variables in Estimating Finite Population Variance in Two Phase Sampling

چکیده
This paper presents some chain ratio-type estimators for estimating finite population variance using two auxiliary variables in two phase sampling set up. The expressions for biases and mean squared errors of the suggested classes of estimators are given. Asymptotic optimum estimators (AOE’s) in each class are identified with their approximate mean squared error formulae. The theoretical and empirical properties of the suggested classes of estimators are investigated. In the simulation study, we took a real dataset related to pulmonary disease available on the CD with the book by Rosner (2006).

Improved Exponential Estimator for Population Variance Using Two Auxiliary Variables
In this paper exponential ratio and exponential product type estimators using two auxiliary variables are proposed for estimating unknown population variance y S . Problem is extended to the case of two-phase sampling. Theoretical results are supported by an empirical study.
متن کاملEstimation of the Finite Population Mean in Two Phase Sampling When Auxiliary Variables Are Attributes
We consider the problem of estimating the finite population mean in two phase sampling when some information on auxiliary attributes is available. It is shown that the proposed estimator is more efficient than the usual mean estimator, the S. Bahl and R.K. Tuteja (Ratio and product type exponential estimators, Information and Optimization Sciences 12 (1), 159–163, 1991) estimator and a family o...
متن کاملEstimation of Finite Population Ratio When Other Auxiliary Variables are Available in the Study
The estimation of the population total ty, by using one or more auxiliary variables, and the population ratio θxy = ty/tx, tx is the population total for the variable X, for a finite population are heavily discussed in the literature. In this paper, the idea of estimating the finite population ratio θxy is extended to use the availability of auxiliary variable Z in the study. The availability o...

متن کاملModified Sampling Strategies Using Correlation Coefficient for Estimating Population Mean
This paper proposes two sampling strategies based on the modified ratio estimator using the population mean of auxiliary variable and population correlation coefficient between the study variable and the auxiliary variable by Singh and Tailor (2003) for estimating the population mean (total) of the study variable in a finite population. A comparative study is made with usual sampling strategies...
